Gut Bombs – What’s going on with America’s “intestinal fortitude”?

Monday, February 21st, 2011

More and more Americans are being diagnosed with conditions of the digestive system, including Celiac disease, Crohn’s disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. So what’s going on with America’s gut?  Some theories include our over indulgence in highly processed foods or foods that contain gluten.  Fresh, unprocessed foods make it easier for our bodies to digest meals and absorb nutrients.  Also, a well-exercised body can also have a huge impact on the efficiency of our digestive systems – one more reason to get off the couch!

The right balance of healthy fats can also aid a gloomy gut… organic virgin coconut oil is nature’s richest source of lauric acid, the same saturated fat found in breast milk.  Coconut oil health benefits are extensive, and have been found to reduce the symptoms of digestive disorders as well as support the overall immune system.

We would love to hear from those of you who have struggled with these types of health challenges – what solutions have you found?

Our choice for the most inspiring “Eat Better, Live Better” post of the week…

Friday, February 11th, 2011

Where did the week go?  Happy Friday everyone!  We are loving all the inspirational posts coming our way – thank you to our most marvelous Club Melt® members.

Hats off this week to Ms. Korie Chung for telling us about running the midnight sun marathon in Norway.  Korie, you not only inspire us to get off our duffs and start running, but maybe think about getting out and seeing the world.  Running a marathon in Norway…..very cool.  Congrats Korie – and best of  luck with your training.  (And don’t forget to use Melt® with the fish & vegetables you have been eating – that little touch of coconut will really enhance their flavor!)

Weight Watcher Points Plus

Friday, February 4th, 2011

One of our wonderful Club Melt® members let us know that one tablespoon of Melt equals 2 points in the Weight Watchers Points Plus program. She also pointed out the program’s requirement of 2 teaspoons of healthy oil, which Melt most definitely fills.  Other spreads, like butter, do not qualify as a healthy spread or oil. So for all you Weight Watcher members out there – make Melt, the healthiest butter substitute, a part of your 2011 plan to increase your metabolism and lose weight!
